Noting the popularity of mural paintings in the downtown area, the giant retaining wall at Gaya-ro, Busanjin-gu District, is being transformed into artwork using LED illumination.

The wall painting titled ‘People of the City’ on the 437 meter wide and 14 meter high retaining wall near Gaya Station on Subway Line 2 now displays aspects of the daily life of Busan’s citizens. The special LED and metal artwork will offer a magnificent night view. The LED illumination on the upper part of the wall will also be used to inform citizens about the city and the district administration, and various district events for residents.

The many mountainous districts of Busan have required retaining walls at several places in the city. Therefore, among a total of 73 of these large plain grey retaining walls measuring 50 meters or more on roads at least 25 meters wide, the City plans to transform 2 or 3 into artwork every year.
