Busan Development Institute selected the ‘Top 10 Hit Products of 2010 in Busan’ under four categories – Busan-based products, policies, people and organizations that have had a very positive effect on the city’s development. Busan-based products feature among the list of nationwide hit products - reflecting regional characteristics. The hit products have been chosen by recommendations and interviews of experts and email survey.

 

1.     Three globally competitive festivals – the Pusan International Film Festival, Busan International Fireworks Festival and the G-Star Game Convention and Exhibition – were each the biggest ever held. They were evaluated as ‘mega’ events combining the public’s active participation, response, and dynamic regional characteristic of a globally competitive Busan region. 

2.     Busan-based, low-cost carrier - Air Busan has operated in the black this year with unique marketing strategies to become the No. 1 low-cost carrier in Korea.

3.     Hillside road became new tourist attractions in Busan. The city’s hillside roads were transformed into cultural and artistic resources through the ‘Hillside Road Renaissance’ project.

4.     Smart phones boosted social networking in the Busan region.

5.     Geoga Bridge connecting Busan and Geoje became a new tourist attraction for the South Coast region. 

6.     Lee Dae-ho, a Lotte Giants baseball player, became the first Septuple Crown winner in the history of Korean Professional Baseball, and set a world record by hitting a home run in nine straight games.

7.     Environmentally friendly LED illuminations were utilized on fountain and retaining walls in the city.

8.     Bujeon Market, a traditional Korean market with culture.

9.     Sansuyu (cornelian cherry) drink by Chunho Foods, a Busan-based company.

10.  Gal∙ Maet∙ Gil, beautiful footpaths around Busan, is now helping to increase the size of Busan’s healthy walking population.
