New non-stop KTX service between Busan and Seoul is now being offered. The photo shows the first non-stop train on the route leaving Busan Station at 1:50 p.m. on Dec. 1.
The new direct KTX train between Busan and Seoul officially launched on Dec. 1, making travel on the route easier than ever.
The train departs Seoul and travels directly to Busan without making any stops, arriving at its destination in just two hours and eight minutes.
The new service cuts the travel time by about 20 to 30 minutes compared with the normal KTX train, which stops at several stations - such as Dongdaegu - along the way.
The service is currently operating on a test basis from Monday to Thursday until Dec. 14, when it could be expanded to seven days a week if it proves popular. The train leaves Seoul at 9:45 a.m. and arrives at Busan Station at 11:53 a.m. It then leaves Busan at 1:50 p.m. and arrives at Seoul Station at 3:58 p.m.
“After the pilot operation, if we see substantial interest from travelers we will operate the service on a daily basis,” an official with the KORAIL Busan Department remarked.
“We are currently looking into changing the fare for all the lines, but as of now the price will remain the same.”
