Busan City has succeeded in attracting the “Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness”, co-hosted by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the World Bank (WB), to its shores.

The Busan High Level Forum will be the first large-scale conference in the country since Korea became a new member of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) last November. About two thousand delegates including ministerial level leaders of 150 countries, and representatives of international organizations and civil societies are expected to participate at the Forum. The conference has been held every 2 or 3 years to increase the effectiveness of aid in order to achieve the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The conference follows the High Level Forums held in Rome (2003), Paris (2005) and Accra (2008) and will conclude the OECD/DAC-led process on aid effectiveness that was launched by the Paris Declaration in 2005.
