On December 6, the Salvation Army in Busan and the Gyeongnam region held their annual bell ringing ceremony in front of Lotte Department Store in Seomyeon to mark the start of their 2010 Red Kettle Christmas campaign and begin their annual holiday fund-raising activities, which will continue until midnight on Christmas Eve at a total of 24 locations in Busan and the Gyeongnam region. The Red Kettle campaign kicks off at 300 locations nationwide and donations will support funds for the underprivileged, for those suffering from heart disease, for welfare facilities and for welfare projects.
An official of the Salvation Army in Busan and the Gyeongnam region said, “Last year, the red kettles in Busan and the Gyeongnam region collected 293 million won. We expect to be able to achieve our goal of collecting 300 million won this year through the warm-hearted generosity of the people.”
