No vehicles will be allowed on the Gwangalli Beach road on Saturdays and Sundays in July and August when summer vacation is in full swing.

The shortage of parking space in Busan’s well-known tourist spot Gwangalli Beach has caused great inconveniences to tourists. So, the new car-free road to be used as a parking lot during the daytime and as a café street and a stage for cultural performances at night will be able to provide visitors with more parking space as well as opportunities to enjoy entertainment.

The 800m-long vehicle blocking section spans from Eonyang three-way junction to Meeting Square. During the Gwangalli Eobang Festival in last April, only one lane was blocked, which had a limited effect, so this time all of the two lanes will become a road without vehicles.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends during July and August when the beach is open to the public, the lane on the beach side will be used as a paid parking lot, while the other on the commercial district side will be a driveway to the parking lot.

Moreover, from 6 p.m. to midnight, the beach street will be turned into an outdoor café street with beach parasols and tables, providing cultural performances.

To ensure more convenient parking, Suyeong-gu Office established a public parking lot at the crossroad of Gwangalli Beach entrance this May. It opens 24 hours a day free of charge.
