The special events will be held on five occasions between June 15 and October. The other dates include Sept. 10, Oct. 19 and 24. They will provide a nice opportunity for foreigners to enjoy the nation’s traditional music and dances.
The Busan Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra offers a chance to savor Korean traditional music. This is composed of Samulnori music and folk songs, which were loved by both the royal family and the general public, and Sujecheon, which is a wind ensemble of royal court music. The Busan Metropolitan Dance Company incorporates the Seol-janggo-chum performed by dancers playing janggo, an hourglass-shaped drum, to the tune of pansori and Meot-deun-chum, a modern version of the fan dance.
