As the number of vacationers is expected to increase to more than 40 million from 38.5 million last year, beaches are busy with the preparation to welcome visitors: adding sand, improving amenities, and planning many events visitors can see and enjoy. Busan Sea Festival, International Rock Festival, and Hyeon-in Song Festival to be held in August are expected to heat up the summer beaches.
Beaches are also rushing to make themselves more comfortable and pleasant to attract more vacationers. Haeundae beach designates part of its area as non-smoking zone; Gwangalli beach plans to operate its own broadcasting station playing music and make a street of outdoor cafés; Songdo beach is going to set up Hyeon-in Square, and Dadaepo beach has a plan to remove iron railings around it. This competition will offer visitors more choices.
