“Deungdae Call,” Busan’s brand taxi, started its operation in April 18, 2007, with the aim to reemerge as a clean and convenient call taxi for the citizens of Busan.

To support the operation of Deungdae Call, which represents the image of Busan as a port city, Busan City Government has provided 1.25 billion won to Busan Taxi Association, the business operator, so that the taxi can be equipped with navigation system and pre- & post-paid card and receipt issuance machines, and can provide simultaneous interpretation services. The taxi also has orange-color roof light and the logo of Dynamic Busan.

Passengers can use the service at the same fare with that of regular taxies by dialing 051) 600-1000, and the call taxi will come within three to five minutes. Such service is possible with the first-ever application of CDMA technology to taxies in Korea.

Thanks to the good reputation of the brand taxi, the number of passengers has reached more than 5,000 per day only in a month after the service started. So the call center increased the number of employees from 12 to 24 and hired part-timers.

Busan city and Busan Taxi Association plan to largely expand the operation if the number of users continues to increase until October.
