BEXCO To Be Expanded

Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO), which is emerging as the center of an international exhibition and convention industry, will be enlarged.

Busan City unveiled its plan last Tuesday that Grand Hall accommodating up to 4,000 people would be built adjacent to the Convention Hall, and two-story building and 20,000m² size Exhibition Hall would also be set up in the nearby site where Cinepark was once located. This is part of Busan City’s master plan for the promotion of strategic industries.

Basic and Detailed Designs are scheduled to be made by 2009 after conducting urban planning modification and feasibility study. And the construction will start in 2009 and end in June 2012 with an investment of 169.3 billion won.

 

In addition, a 150-meter long moving walk will be installed in the underground passage between the existing Exhibition Hall and the New Hall, and a deck between the existing Convention Hall and the New Auditorium. The plan of closing down or diminishing the 40-meter wide APEC Street between BEXCO and Cinepark is under consideration.

 

When completed, a total area of BEXCO will be expanded from 124,545 to  160,975m², with the exhibition hall from 33,180 to 53,180m² and the convention hall from 4,962 to 13,821m². The parking space will be doubled and thus accommodate from 1,144 to 3,121 vehicles.
