The Ministry of Information and Communication will demonstrate a new IT convergence code to the heads of state, ministers, CEOs and other dignitaries attending the APEC Summit in Busan next month and let them personally experience the advanced Korean IT status.

The APEC Summit and associated events, set for Nov. 11-21, will feature quite different aspect in that the APEC will present an IT exhibition for the first time in its history, a move the ministry hopes to reinforce Korea's national brand as an IT hub.

The IT exhibition consists of three sections: the IT exhibition hall for the heads of state, CEOs and journalists, where ‘Ubiquitous Korea' is shown, the IT structures, where the country's traditional mores and natural environment and an arena where people can experience satellite DMB and WiBro services are shown.

Ubiquitous Korea, or IT839, is the ministry's IT blueprint designed to serve as growth engines to fuel regenerative cycle of investments and returns of the Korean economy. The DMB (digital multimedia broadcasting) service is a mobile multimedia broadcasting service that provides audio and video services over handheld devices or in a vehicle, while the WiBro (wireless broadband) service is a portable Internet service providing a high-speed wireless Internet connection anytime and anywhere.

The IT exhibition hall will have eight units entered by various government agencies and four companies each with a specific theme, such as e-learning from the ministries of commerce-industry-energy and education-human resources development, cultural contents from the culture-tourism ministry and a commercial unit featuring products and services entered by Samsung and LG electronics, KT and SKT.
