Everyone Is Invited to the Global Gathering.

Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Foundation for International Activities (BFIA) will host the Global Gathering 2010 at Haeundae APEC Naru Park on October 31, 2010 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

 

Under the theme of “Busan, an Advanced City Open to the World, and its World Cultural Festival”, the Global Gathering is for all citizens of Busan, whether Koreans or foreigners, to experience culture, traditions and food from all around the world and to engage in cultural exchange.

 

Groups from 64 countries such as Japan, Turkey, Russia and Indonesia, including groups from Busan’s sister cities, will participate in the event and the festival will be composed of 4 zones – the Multicultural Booth Zone, the Global Stage, the Multicultural Experience Zone, and the Information & Counseling Zone.

 

 

The highlights of each zone are as follows:

 

Multicultural Booth Zone

 - Experience different cultures and customs, and taste the delicious food of each of the 64 participating countries and groups from around the world.

 - 24 sister cities from 18 different countries will be running their own booth.

 - Enjoy an exhibition of the paintings of children from all the foreign schools in Busan.

 

Global Stage

 - Performances by the Citizen’s Chi-Ta-Dae (Korean Traditional Instrument Orchestra) and Busan Metropolitan Dance Company, as well as dance performances from Istanbul (Turkey), Vladivostok (Russia), and Shimonoseki (Japan) will take place from 11:20 a.m. Traditional folk performances from Ecuador, Bangladesh, Russia, Turkey and Japan will then take place from 12:30 p.m. for two hours.

 

Multicultural Experience Zone

-          Try on traditional costumes from around the world

-          Experience various traditional Korean cultures including Yut-nori (a traditional board game) and Jegi-chagi (a Korean shuttlecock game)

-          Making a Hangeul T-shirt

-          Writing your Family motto

-          Tasting traditional Korean tea

 

Information & Counseling Zone 

-          Experience Medical Tourism in Busan (oriental medicine, medical check up)  

-          Legal counseling

-          Various events: face painting, balloon art and others.

 

Gifts will be offered to visitors who come early, and the draw for free hotel stays, flight tickets, department store gift certificates and more will be held later in the day.
