The Special Exhibition celebrating the ASEAN-Republic of
Korea Commemorative Summit 2014, the ‘Origin of Beauty: Dramatic Nostalgia’ will
be held from December 10, 2014 – February 1, 2015, at the Busan Museum of Art
(2nd floor).
The Busan Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art in
Bangkok, Lao National Museum, Vietnam and Myanmar Art Association, National
Museum of Cambodia, National Museum in Malaysia, Galeri Petronas, National
Museum of Indonesia and Royal Regalia Museum in Brunei are all participating in
the exhibit. A Total of 120 modern art works reinterpreting traditional
culture, craft and design will be featured. The exhibit will create dramatic
nostalgia by combining artifacts from the past with modern pieces.
The opening ceremony of the exhibit was held on December
10 and attended by 200 participants including directors and curators of the
participating art museums from the 10 ASEAN member nations. The exhibit opens
to the public on December 12, 2014, at 1 p.m.
Traditional and modern art of both Korea and the nations
of ASEAN will be displayed together to promote cultural understanding.
