Environment Corporation (BEC) was chosen as a winner at the International Green
Apple Awards, the most respected international environmental awards in Europe.
Chairman Chulhyeon Lee attended a ceremony held in the Houses of Parliament in
London, on November 10th, to receive the award. This award, given by 'The Green
Organization', a global environmental NGO, was previously awarded to Samsung
Electronics Co.(2011), Korea Airports Corporation (2013) and Korea Environment
Corporation (2013).
BEC was chosen as the 5th awardee in Korea in spite to save energy through self-reliance strategies across diverse eco-fundamental facilities, to help the nation to recover from a national energy crisis. BEC has begun to operate a 3,300kw photovoltaic plant since this year and is leading the way in efforts to find and utilize new and renewable energy sources such as by operating a small hydro power plant using sewage water for the first time ever in Korea.
