The project site is a 22.52㎢ area of Gadeokdo, located in Cheonga-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan.
The development directions of the project are as follows:
- The Gadeokdo region, with its beautiful natural scenery, will be developed as a high quality futuristic maritime tourism city centering on tourism and leisure.
- Gadeokdo's status as the gateway for Pan-Pacific and North East Asian trade will be increased through the establishment of transportation infrastructure.
- Integrated leisure and entertainment resorts will be introduced to attract foreign investment and tourism. These will be different from other tourism locations in Busan.
- Complementary international business and exhibition facilities will be expanded to create added value to the
- Permanent tourism attractions will be facilitated through the completion of the
- Residential units will be built in the neighboring regions of Busan & Jinhae Free Economic Zone, the
- New and renewable energy resources will be introduced to attract tourism while aiming for energy-saving urban development.
- Resort facilities will be fully equipped with amenities such as sport and lodging, medical and entertainment facilities etc.
To promote Busan’s stature and to develop new opportunities for growth through the “Gadeokdo Comprehensive Development Project”, development concepts and creative ideas for the entire 22.52㎢ area should be reflected in the master plan.
Any individuals or corporations are eligible to participate in the competition, either as individuals or as a team, and the winning plan will be announced on March 2, 2010 after all entries have been reviewed by the examination committee, consisting of professors and experts in the field at home and abroad, working in the private sector.
There is a 1st prize of 200 million won, and the winner will also be given priority negotiation rights in establishing the master plan, while the 2nd prize is worth 60 million won and there are two prizes each worth 20 million won for the third place finishers.
