
The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority hosted an event for foreign press from across Europe and Asia on Friday November 6th. The event jointly organized by the central government’s Ministry of Knowledge and Economy and the BJFEZ Authority gave the foreign press corps a tour of the BJFEZ’s districts and the surrounding area.
The purpose of the tour was to highlight the foreign investment environment of the BJFEZ and the surrounding area; the foreign press corps included reporters from noted publications such as the Sydney Morning Herald, Il Sole 24 as well as eight other nations including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Finland and Australia.
The group visited the Busan-Geoje Island fixed link bridge project which will begin operations in 2010; it will be Korea’s first and longest immersed tunnel connecting Busan to Geoje Island. The group then had the opportunity to visit Ungdong district which will be home to our tourism & leisure center including golf course, hotel-casino and marina. Afterwards, the group moved on to Hwajeon district which will accommodate mechatronics, electronics and Korea’s leading high-tech manufacturers such as LS Industrial Systems.
Through this event the BJFEZ Authority will have the opportunity to promote the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone and its foreign investment environment in eight languag es through these foreign media publications.
