The Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) was opened, May 30, at the 1st floor of the Daehan Tongwoon Building, Choryang-dong, Dong-gu, Busan, to promote trade and strengthen business ties between both countries.

The ITPC is an overseas branch of the National Agency for Export Development which is affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy of Indonesia. To promote trade between the two countries, the ITPC, with 4 employees, will provide marketing research for Indonesian companies hoping to launch their products in the Korean market, as well as export marketing, Korean market analysis and trade consultation.

Busan City signed its sisterhood relationship with Surabaya, Indonesia in 1994. Since then, the two cities have had active exchange programs such as personal exchanges. Export consulting events held in Jakarta and Surabaya this May to promote Busan-based marine equipment industries’ overseas expansion, were great successes.

Busan City officials said they expect that the opening of the ITPC here will enhance the level of our two countries’ collaboration and exchange in terms of economy and trade, and help to boost the local economy.

Indonesia at present has trade promotion centers in Busan, Korea; Budapest, Hungary; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Johannesburg, South Africa; Los Angeles, the United States; Osaka, Japan and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
