Large-scale hospitals to open in Busan

Large-scale hospitals that have opened recently in Busan will help to improve the general level of health of Busan’s citizens, and at the same time lead the expansion of medical tourism in Busan. 


The On Hospital kicked off this wave of new hospital openings on March 1. The high-tech 12-story On Hospital has 400 beds.


The hospital is situated diagonally across from the Busan Global Village in Danggam 2-dong, Busanjin-gu District and there is a direct passage connecting the hospital with Buam Station, on Subway Line 2. The On Hospital has more than 30 university clinical professors on its medical staff and more than 100 nurses. The hospital covers everything from internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics and neurosurgery to obstetrics, pediatrics, urology and otolaryngology as well as dentistry, anesthesiology and anatomy. The On Hospital has 16 special centers focusing on a variety of medical areas including endoscopic surgery, facial surgery, abdominal surgery, artificial kidneys and general medical health checkups. The hospital will also operate more than 10 special clinics for diabetes, snoring, arrhythmia and osteoporosis, among other areas.


Paik Hospital opened on March 8 in Haeundae. The 16-story building has a total of 1,004 beds. This general hospital will have four specialized centers and three functional centers including a cancer center and respiratory center equipped with a variety of digital medical equipment. Notably, the hospital is the first in the country to offer hot spring therapy.


 

Pusan National University’s Yangsan Herbal Medicine Hospital opened on March 12. It ranks as the first national herbal medicine hospital in Korea with 200 wards on an 18,000-square-meter site. A related clinic will open there later this year.

 

The Asia Cancer Center in Gijang-gun County will start partial treatment of patients from next month and will open fully in July.


The Bestian Medical Center, which specializes in the treatmnet of burns, will open in Hwamyeong-dong, Buk-gu District as the nation's fourth Bestian burns treatment center after Seoul, Bucheon and Daejeon. The 14-story building has 200 beds.
