Foreign visitors like Haeundae and Jagalchi best

Average spending 1,770,000 won: 550,000 won on hotels and 340,000 won on shopping

 

Foreign visitors to Busan chose Haeundae Beach and Jagalchi Market as especially impressive attractions in the city, while each of them spent an average of 1,775,900 won ($1,325) during their visits here.

 

Busan recently announced the results of the 2008 Busan City Tourism Statistics Review, performed by the Busan Development Institute at the city's request. The report was written based on individual interviews with 1,095 foreigners and 2,152 Koreans who visited Busan last year.

 

Asked to name the most impressive places they visited here, most foreign visitors chose Haeundae Beach (68.2 percent), followed by Jagalchi Market (56.9 percent), Taejongdae (22.3 percent), Beomeo Temple (17.2 percent) and the UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea (11.0 percent).

 

In terms of activities in Busan, foreign visitors enjoyed shopping the most, with 61.5 percent naming it as their favorite, followed by sightseeing and touring at 60.4 percent, restaurants at 52.9 percent, rest and relaxation at 25.1 percent and leisure activities at 23.7 percent.

 

Overall satisfaction with the city was qui te high, with the average score 5.42 points out of 7. Asked if they would be willing to return here, the average given score was 5.51 points out of  7, also relatively high.

 

Out of the average 1,775,900 won spent by each foreign visitor in Busan, accommodations accounted for the highest portion at 551,000 won. Shopping was next at 343,000 won, with amusement and admission fees taking up 280,000 won, and food and beverages costing 236,000 won.
