A total of 31 Busan-based goods (19 current world class products and 12 next-generation world class products) have been designated as ‘World Class Products of Korea’ by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy on December 14, 2009.
The ‘World Class Product of Korea’ certificate is given to those products that have a market share ranking them in at least fifth place in the global market, while next-generation world class products are picked from exports that have the potential to become current world class products within five years.
The majority of Busan-based World Class Products are in the shipping-related equipment category. This shows the degree to which Busan is specialized in the shipping-related field. In addition, as a result of focusing support on the shoe industry through the Regional Industrial Promotion Project, 5 goods in the shoe industry have each been designated as a ‘World Class Product of Korea’. There were 7 goods that ranked 1st in the global market in 2009.
As for the world class products, the government will provide support for all steps from technology, design development, advertising, finance and overseas marketing.
Meanwhile, Busan can be proud of the total of 32 Busan-based scientists and researchers mentioned in Marquis Who’s Who, one of the world’s three top biographical dictionaries, which contains detailed biographical information on outstanding achievers worldwide in a wide variety of professions and virtually every important field of endeavor.
