HaeundaeBeach will officially open on weekends from May 23. With climate change leading to daytime temperatures getting higher and higher, and with the number of beachgoers expected to increase, this year Haeundae Beach will be open for swimming at the weekends more than a month earlier than in previous years, when July 1was the traditional opening date.
Haeundae-gu District will station 8 lifeguards on duty along the beach and will fill waterholes up with 1,500 tons of sand. The public convenience facilities at HaeundaeBeach, including8 coin showers, changing rooms, electronic lockers and public restrooms, will also be open at weekends from May 23. Public liability insurance will provide swimmers with up to 100 million won of cover.
