The 2011 International Exchange Exhibition, Make jade out of clay – Longquan Celadon” will take place at Busan Museum from December 10, 2011 through February 5, 2012.

 

Longquan Celadon is a famous type of celadon-glazed porcelain, made at Longquan and neighboring counties in the province of Zhejiang, which influenced Chinese history and changed the world’s perception of China due to the high quality, the scale of production and the volume of exports of this product.

 

Supported by the Fukuoka City Education Committee in Japan, the exhibition will display a total of 197 longquan celadon pieces on loan from 9 domestic and international institutes including Fukuoka City Archeology Center, the National Museum of Korea, the Central Buddhist Museum and DongA University Museum.

 

As part of the opening ceremony, an academic lecture and a Chinese lion dance performance will be held on December 9, 2011 from 3:45 p.m. 

 

The exhibition will give visitors a better understanding of the ceramic culture of East Asia and the medieval history of Northeast Asia. 

 

Opening hours: 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. (closed on Mondays). Admission is free for all visitors.
