A ceremony took place on November 28, 2011 to lay the first deck section of the Bukhang Bridge connecting Gamman-dong, Nam-gu and Cheonghak-dong, Yeongdo-gu at Gamman Citizens’ Park in Gamman-dong, Nam-gu district.

With a total project cost of 538.4 billion won, the Bukhang Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge, broke ground in April 2007 and is now 58 percent complete. The Bridge is scheduled to be completed in April 2014.

The 3,331-meter Bukhang Bridge (the 4~6 lane deck is 18.6~28.7 meters wide) will be the second longest cable-stayed bridge in Korea after Incheon Bridge.

The Bukhang Bridge is the last part of the Busan Coastal Beltway connecting Haeundae and Geoje Island via Gwangan Bridge, Bukhang Bridge, Namhang Bridge, Eulsukdo Bridge and Geoga Bridge. The Busan Coastal Beltway is expected to improve logistics and traffic and also become a marine tourism attraction in Busan.
