Busan City has announced that Singapore Airlines is offering a Busan-Singapore service for a limited period of time. The 288-seat return flight will operate on 9 occasions, twice a week, between December 25, 2011 and January 22, 2012, every Thursday and Sunday with 288 seats.

The Busan (Gimhae International Airport) – Singapore (Changi Airport) direct flights will take about 6 hours, compared with the 10-hour journey time of the Gimhae – Incheon – Singapore route, thereby reducing the financial cost as well as the travel time.

As the flag carrier airline of Singapore, Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA) operates a hub at Changi Airport.  Singapore Airlines possesses a fleet of 101 aircraft and serves 66 cities around the world. Currently, the Incheon – Singapore route operates 21 times a week regularly.

A city official said, “We expect that this temporary Busan – Singapore service will play an important role in helping to establish a regular Busan – Singapore service in the future.” and added, “Launching a direct flight to Singapore, a global center for transport, logistics, finance and oil trade will provide not only greater convenience for citizens and tourists but will also further boost the local economy by attracting foreign investment and foreign companies to Busan.”
