Busan City signed a sisterhood city agreement with Yangon, the largest city in Myanmar.
Hur Nam-sik, the Mayor of Busan, and Yangon Mayor Hla Myint put their signatures to the agreement on January 14 at the Yangon City Hall to become sister cities. The two signed a joint declaration promising cooperation and development in economics, culture, tourism, sports, education and private citizen exchanges. Yangon City becomes Busan’s 26th sister city.
Yangon City is Myanmar’s largest city and commercial capital. It was also the capital city until 2006 when the capital was moved to Naypyidaw. Leading global multinational corporations and major economic, commercial and port facilities are located in Yangon, the main gateway to Myanmar.
Busan mayor, Hur Nam-sik and the Busan city delegation are welcomed at Yangon city hall.
