BJFEZ Authority singed a MOU with Brighton College from England

-Brighton College with 165 years of history, the best A-Level boarding school of England, plans to open a branch campus in 2016 at Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (BJFEZ) area.

On December 11, 2012 BJFEZ Authority and Busan Metropolitan City singed the MOU with Brighton College from England to establish a branch campus at Myeongji International city. At the signing ceremony Commissioner Ha (BJFEZ), Mayor Hur (city of Busan), Chairman Park (Don Woon Educational Foundation), and Director Paul Westbrook (Brighton College) attended.

Prior to the MOU signing, Brighton College and Don Woon Educational Foundation established a consortium for advancing the Busan and Don Woon Educational Foundation to play a role such as school construction have signed this MOU on behalf of the consortium.
Brighton College to invest about 300 billion Won for campus buildings on approximately 15,000m² land size, and will recruit about 1,000 students. The curriculums and school staffs will be organized by the Brighton College and will open during 2016.

Brighton College founded in 1845 by William Aldwin Soames is located in historical city at Sussex state on the south coast of England and it is one of Britain’s leading schools; indeed, in November 2011 Brighton was awarded the most prestigious accolade of the UK schools world when it was named Sunday Times Independent School of the Year. Academic results consistently place Brighton among the top 3 schools for boys and girls in England; provision for art, music, dance and drama is exceptional, and the College’s sporting prowess is nationally renowned.
The school is also known as first to adopt Chinese language as compulsory school subject.

Don-Woon Educational foundation is well experienced organization currently operating the Daejeon Arts High school and its sister corporation with Janghoon Educational Foundation will be very successful operating a new international school with Brighton College’s prestige international recognition and the achievement of 2011 school year. The Chairman Park also state that after 10 years this will be Asia’s leading international school.

President Robert Skidelsky sent message stated that Brighton College Busan campus is to become premier school in the Asia as it did in the England with high academic achievement that Brighton College showed. Mayor Hur sent gratitude to Brighton College for choosing Busan as their Asia campus, and hope that opening of school will come soon.

Commissioner Ha from BJFEZ made the comments that, Brighton College coming to Myjeonji International city will provide great residential environment for foreigners and also very helpful to attract foreign investment to BJFEZ area.

BJFEZ Authority and city of Busan have committed to give full support for successful of establishment of Brighton College Busan campus.
