Top 10 City Achievements in 2015

The City of Busan announced the top 10 achievements of the municipal administration in 2015 according to a public survey:

 

① Gori No. 1 nuclear reactor to be permanently shut down by 2017

② Improvement of public transportation service: transfer fares abolished July 1, 2015

③ Beginning of Nakdonggang River era: opening of the Nakdonggang river estuary bank

④ Largest job creation in 20 years: attracted S&T Motiv Co. Ltd to Busan

⑤ Beginning of environmentally-friendly eco-city: ecological restoration of Dongcheon and Bujeoncheon streams

⑥ Groundbreaking for Eco-Delta City: regularization of West Busan development

⑦ Preemptive measures against MERS spreading locally, ending the outbreak earliest in Korea

⑧ Opening of Busan National Science Museum

⑨ End of time-limited water supply in part of the city after 120-year history of water service

⑩ Busan citizen welfare standards: a happy city for all citizens

 

Busan City set “A Quantum Leap to a Global City” as a major 2016 objective of the Busan Metropolitan City government in order to spread awareness of the city’s 2015 achievements and attract the 2028 Olympics and 2030 World Expo to Busan.

 

2016 is the 40th anniversary of the opening of Gimhae International Airport and the projected first year of construction of Gadeok New Airport.
