Pusan National University Yangsan Campus Station on Subway Line 2 starts operations on October 1. The opening of the station will provide passengers with easy and convenient access to the recently opened Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital.

The Line 2 extension is a 7.2 kilometer section from Hopo Station to Yangsan Station, including 4 stations - Jeungsan, Pusan National University Yangsan Campus, Namyangsan and Yangsan. Since the opening of the extension in January 2008, only Namyangsan Station and Yangsan Station have been opened, while the opening of the other two stations has been delayed till the completion of all necessary facilities.

Busan Transportation Corporation also plans to open Jeungsan Station as soon as its facilities are ready.

Nine officials, including a stationmaster, have already been working to prepare for the opening of the station since September 14, and trains started trial runs from September 17.

The location of the shuttle bus stop for Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital will now change to this station from Namyangsan Station. The No. 15 Yangsan local bus will run via this station as well.

The station is equipped with rest areas and convenient facilities for passengers and local residents. Yangsan City and the Korea Land Corporation are going to create the station square (15,000 square meter area) with rest areas and a fountain. An additional parking lot with 70 parking spaces will be built on the right side of the station building, adding to the 44 parking spaces currently on the ground level of the parking lot. Bicycle racks are planned for installation next year.

The president of the Busan Transportation Corporation, Ahn Jun-tae said, “The opening of the Pusan National University Yangsan Campus Station will provide more convenience to Busan’s subway passengers”, and he added “We will continue to work towards the goal of developing a metropolitan transportation network connecting Busan with its neighboring cities.”
