Free bike rentals available at Oncheoncheon

As a part of the Green Busan Campaign, Yeonje-gu District is providing the public with free bike rentals. Bikes can be picked up and returned to Oncheoncheon bike shop, located at Geoje 1-dong, behind Hwashin Apartment, by Oncheoncheon Citizens’ Park. The rental shop, with 2 staff, was opened in September 1, 2009. There are currently 50 free bikes available for 2 hours a day per person from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. during Monday through Friday, but not at weekends or on public holidays.

 

“To avoid having any bicycles stolen and in the interests of bicycling and pedestrian safety, bicycle riding is permitted only on the cycle paths at Oncheoncheon Citizens’ Park.” said the Yeonje-gu District official, who added “We are planning to run a bike academy for citizens who don’t know how to ride a bike.”

Starting from July, 2009, Yeonje-gu District spent 30 million won to build the free bike rental shop, equipped with bike parking racks, lighting and convenience facilities.
