The
Busan Foundation for International Activities is holding an international
training program for experts in the field of urban planning and development from
Busan’s Sister and Friendship Cities from October 28 through November 11, 2014.
A
total of 17 participants from Mumbai in India, Bangkok in Thailand, Cebu in the
Philippines, Yangon in Myanmar, Ho Chi Mihn in Vietnam and Phnom Phenh in
Cambodia will share and discuss issues concerning urban planning, development,
the economy, and the environment.
Beginning
with the opening ceremony on October 29, participants will study problems and
solutions regarding new town initiatives as well as economic and urban
development for six days. From November 5~ 12, there will be lectures and field
trips concerning the areas of water supply and drainage management, ocean and
coastal management, port and transportation. Joint research projects and
workshops for the application of Busan’s advanced fields to its sister cities
are also scheduled to be held for the benefit of all participating cities.
Since
2009, the foundation has hosted training programs on the city’s leading fields of
IT, port, marine environment, water and sewage a total of five times. The
extended program about urban planning and development was held twice this year.
To
train more international development professionals that can aid in the gradual development
of Busan’s sister cities, two officials from Yangon and Cebu received
scholarships on October 29, 2014.
