The construction of the 120 floor and 510 meter high main building of Busan Lotte World will begin in April in Jungang-dong, Jung-gu District, the site of the former Busan City Hall. In a recent press conference at the construction site of Busan Lotte World, Lotte Engineering & Construction said the ground-breaking for the 120-floor main building is scheduled for April. The basic design of the main building is being finalized. Because the ongoing cofferdam construction is being completed, construction for reinforcing earth, which is the first step of construction, may begin in April. Lotte Engineering & Construction said that after digging for the main building, which will take a year or so, the building construction may begin as soon as the first half of next year. The main building will be built by 2014.

Changes have been made inside the building as well with fewer hotel rooms and offices and more residential facilities planned than in the original design. Initially, Lotte Engineering & Construction intended to construct 800 rooms on the upper floors of the main building but considering the supply and demand for hotel rooms in the region, the company will reduce the number to a range between 180 and 339, which is a number comparable to well-known skyscrapers abroad. Residential facilities will be expanded in order to attract multinational corporations and global companies in the maritime industry to office facilities. The slogan for Busan Lotte World is "Compact City" where rest, accommodation, and businesses services are offered in one place. Meanwhile, the 10 floor department store within Busan Lotte World will be open in December.
