Jisa Foreign Investment Zone reaches

 final stage of FDI attraction

-Swiss marine parts manufacturer to invest $15 million into the zone-

BUSAN, March 5, 2007 – When the Busan Science & Industrial Park opened its doors to international companies in 2005, its Jisa Foreign Investment Zone aimed to attract global high-tech companies into its premises. That goal has now been realized as the zone enters its final stage of FDI attraction with the latest investment coming from PreMech, a Swiss marine parts manufacturer.

On March 5, the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority and Busan Metropolitan City signed an investment MOU with PreMech for the construction of a $15 million manufacturing facility within the Jisa Foreign Investment Zone of the Busan Science & Industrial Park. The PreMech investment process will be completed by 2010 through cooperation with S&W, a domestic specialized manufacturer for diesel engine components, bolts, nuts, and forging parts.

Based out of Bannwil, Switzerland, PreMech has retained a unique technology in producing core marine products. It has been producing high-quality fuel injection equipment and spare parts for marine and stationary diesel engines for the past 18 years. “We are proud of our new partnership with PreMech,” says the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority’s Commissioner Soo-Man Chang. “This investment has further boosted the Jisa Foreign Investment Zone and our Authority will work closely with PreMech to ensure the investment process progresses smoothly.”

With the PreMech investment, 292,563㎡of the total Foreign Investment Zone area of 298,142㎡ is now full leaving only one lot of land remaining. The Authority plans to complete attracting FDI into the zone by the first half of this year.
