Come and see the Kite Flying Contest in Dadaepo Beach

The Busan Kite Flying Contest will be transformed into an international festival from this year. The 39th Busan International Kite Flying Contest will be held on March 7 and 8 for two days at Dadaepo Beach this year. Previously, it had been held as a side event of the Daeboreum Lunar Full Moon Festival in Haeundae.

 

About 2,000 kite lovers from 10 countries including France, German, Belgium, New Zealand, China, Japan, India and Hong Kong as well as Korea will participate in the contest. The contest consists of preliminary rounds and the Final Contest in a number of categories, including kite fighting, creative kite flying, and kite flying by children. In addition, various events such as a kite exhibition, a kite making event and traditional folk play performances such as Dongnae Yaryu, Dongnae Hakchum (crane dance) and the playing of Jagie and Tuho will be held.
