Foreign investors, who hold the key to a successful operation of the free economic zone (FEZ), are showing a keen interest in the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, brightening the prospects of the Busan-Jinhae FEZ.

An American investment company, for example, requested land plots for the relocation of part of the research centers in North Carolina. The CEO of North Carolina-based AVP and another U.S. real estate developer RTF visited the Authority Tuesday, and requested 703- acre land plots in the Du-dong, Gaju and Macheon area.

The AVP chairman proposed the relocation of the Research Triangle in North Carolina, which has a cluster of high-tech companies and research institutes. As the company is asking for a contract, a deal might be concluded as early as the first half of the year.

The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, which started its operation March 12, has since seen a steady stream of foreign businesses showing interest in the FEZ and has a dozen foreign companies willing to invest in its infrastructure like hospitals and schools.
