The extension of Subway Line 2 to Yangsan, scheduled to open on 10 January 2008, will soon conduct trial operations now that initial test runs have been successfully completed.

Busan Transportation Corporation announced that it would start the trial operation of the newly extended line on 23 December 2007 as the line had passed a performance test in May 2007 and crews had completed their training in August 2007.

During the period of the trial, trains will run 137 times per day on weekdays and 109 times on weekends and public holidays.

The 8 km extension adds 4 stations to Subway Line 2 including the final destination at Yangsan. After approval by the Ministry of Construction and Transportation in September 1997, the first phase of construction started in December 2001 and ended in September this year. Now two stations, Namyangsan and Yangsan, will open to the public on 10 January 2008, while two more stations will open shortly thereafter.

Yangsan Station, the last station on Subway Line 2, has about 40,000 potential users who recently moved into newly built apartment complexes, and Namyangsan is also going to have an additional 50,000 residents from 17,000 households in the 17 apartment complexes which will soon be completed. The extension to Yangsan will be of great convenience for the residents living in the area.
