The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries released a list of Korea’s 16 best lighthouses. Criteria included accessibility, recognition, symbolism and performance. The ministry also considered reviews by local governments and the opinions of 200,000 regular visitors to its official website.

“The latest event aims to inform the public of unique marine spaces with individual histories,” Jeon Byeong-jo, a ministry official, said. “Our lighthouses kept ships safe for the past century and will further serve as sites for new coastal experiences.”
