Busan city reported that it plans to offer Mobile RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) u-City Tour service at Busan Station from 16 Nov until 2 Dec. The service will make it possible for tourists to easily get the tourism information with RFID reader embedded mobile phones.

The pilot project of Mobile RFID, supervised by the Ministry of Information and Communication and the National Information Society Agency and operated by KTF, is intended to offer tourists useful information such as tourist destinations of Busan, how to use a train, and city tour bus schedule by providing RFID reader embedded mobile phones.

The project is to connect mobile RFID technology with the u-City Tour Bus which has been operated since 2006, enabling tourists to access useful travel information not only on the bus but also at tourist spots.

Tourists can use the service for free by renting RFID Mobile phone from the information booth located near the arrival exit of Busan Station. Then they can access the travel information such as nearby tourist attractions, recommended restaurants and accommodations at any one of the fourteen city-tour bus stops and designated restaurants.

In addition to the Mobile RFID u-City Tour Bus, the city government plans to apply the mobile RFID technology to u-Tourism project in 2008, said an official of Busan City.
