Busan is now the best MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, Exhibition) city in Korea. According to the Korea Tourism Association, Busan City hosted 3710 MICE events in 2011, beating Seoul which hosted 3576 MICE events during the same year.
Busan’s popularity as an international events and tourism city is thanks to its top-notch convention and accommodation facilities, its pleasant environment for both business and tourism, and its perfected support system. Busan is the first city in Korea with its own U-convention service system in place to support its high-tech international conference facilities. In addition, the completion of the KTX has now dramatically reduced travel times between Busan and Seoul.

Busan City has successfully hosted many large scale international events including the 2002 Korea/Japan FIFA World Cup, the 2002 Busan Asian Games and the 2005 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting in 2010, the Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (HLF-4) in 2011 and the 95th Lions Clubs International Convention in 2012.
