The traveling professionals are concentrating on Busan, from local and abroad, to participate in the ‘Green Tourism where the environment and tourism mutually supports and develops.

 

The 12th Busan International Travel Fair 2009, the biggest international travel fair in the southern part in Korea, will be held from 11th (Friday) to 14th (Monday) of September, 2009 (4 days) in the 3rd hall of BEXCO.

 

It is hosted by the Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Hur Nam-sik), organized by the Busan Tourism Association and KOTFA Co. Ltd., and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, Korea Tourism Organization, Korea Tourism Association and Korean Air.

 

So far, 12 of local governments along with 220 organizations from more than 30 countries abroad applied to participate in the BITF 2009. Especially this year, the European countries such as Israel, Czech, Croatia and the Central American countries such as El Salvador and Uruguay will newly participate in the fair.

 

On the grand opening day, 11th of September (Friday), the World Cultural Performance will warm up the Fair with the participation of the Mayer of Busan Metropolitan City, Ambassadors, Heads of National Tourism Organizations in Korea, Chairmen of 12 local Tourism Associations and other VIP’s.

 

It is expected more than 80,000 visitors will enjoy the Fair during the 4 days, and it will be a great opportunity to for the visitors to experience the world without going abroad.

 

The ‘National Movie Contest for Busan Tourism Promotion’ is newly introduced from this year to encourage the participation of general public to the BITF, with the subjects such as ‘Find the Hidden Attraction in Busan’, ‘Introduce the Best Spots in Busan’, ‘Busan with the Sea and Festivals’.

 

The ‘World Food Festival’, which enjoyed popularity last year, will meet the visitors with double-enlarged in terms of number of participating countries and the size. India, Pakistan, UK, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Nepal, Turkey, Malaysia and China will provide opportunities to visitors to enjoy the peculiar cuisines with reasonable prices.

 

The BITF is consist of ‘Local Pavilions’, ‘Overseas Pavilions with more than 30 countries’, ‘Travel mart to consult and purchase at discounted prices’, ‘Tourism Education Pavilion for students and junior specialists’, and ‘World Food Court’, and will be operated from 10:00  AM to 6:00 PM everyday during the fair period.

 

At the main stage in the exhibition hall, cultural performances will feast visitors by Canada, Thailand, Philippines, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Ecuador and Korea. Also, the ‘Tour Service Contest’ will be held in the main stage for the Cocktail mixing, Coffee Barista, Casino Dealer categories among the students of tourism schools in Busan.

 

The ‘Lucky Draw’ will be also held in the main stage for the visitors with the marvelous gifts, such as free flight tickets, digital cameras, MP3, Free hotel accommodations, etc.

 

The KNN-TV, the local terrestrial TV station covering Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do, is planning live-casting from the exhibition venue and it will invite more visitors to the BITF.

 

‘Overseas Buyers Invitational Business Talks’ and FAM tour are prepared to vitalize the inbound tour to the Busan Metropolitan City and its surrounding areas by inviting major buyers from China, Japan and Taiwan.

 

Last year, the BITF 2008 provided great opportunity for business sectors of 210 exhibitors from 31 countries in 402 booths, as well as general visitors mo re than 71,000 to share the information and experience the global tourism.

 

The BITF 2009 will open from 10 AM to 6 PM, and the entrance fee is KRW 2,000 for adults and 1,000 for students and children. The group visitors over 20 members will be 50% discounted.

 

Free entrance is available if the visitor prints and brings the ‘free invitation’ which is available from the BITF homepage (www.bitf.co.kr).
