City is preparing to host two prestigious e-sports events this month
Get ready, computer game geeks, because a festival just for you is coming to town.
The Busan e-Sports Festival, organized by the city and the Korea e-Sports Association, rolls into Gwangalli Beach from Aug. 6 to 8.
The festival offers competitive computer game matches, promotional booths, exhibits, shows and many other events and activities.
Organizers have expanded the pro-league final round, which has been held at Gwangalli Beach since 2004, and other aspects of the festival. The event could help galvanize the local game business through the promotion of e-sports.
More than 100,000 visitors have flocked to Gwangalli Beach to see the final round of the pro-league competition in previous years.
This year’s festival will feature the final round of the Starcraft pro-league, competitions among local gaming pro-leagues, the Busan e-Sports contest finals, rival matches and other events. Many companies have also prepared promotions for the gathering.
Busan City also plans to promote the International e-Sports Symposium - scheduled from Aug. 7 to 9 at BEXCO - with the Busan e-Sports Festival to develop the area’s reputation as a mecca of e-sports.
“We plan to develop Busan e-Sports Festival into one of the major cultural festivals of Busan City and help Gwangalli become a cultural spot in the world of e-sports,” an official said.
