Economic Cooperation Among Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongsangnam-do

It is reported that Busan City, Ulsan City and Gyeongnam-do decided to jointly take advantage of the Busan Design Center that is to be launched early next year. The three local governments can cooperate and enhance their major core industries such as shipbuilding material and machinery parts.

The three governments held a ‘Collaborative Seminar of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam Economic Officials’ at the Yangsan Tongdosa Tourism Hotel where high-ranking economic officials from the three local governments exchanged their views on co-existence and development.

At the seminar, the three local governments concurred with the suggestion of Busan City: co-utilization of the Busan Design Center, interchange of Chief Technology Officers in the machinery parts industry, and co-hosting a job opportunity fair. Ulsan City suggested cooperation in the auto industry and development, and dispatch of marketing teams. Gyeongsangnam-do suggested co-hosting of technology exchange for shipbuilding material and shared utilization of overseas offices.

In particular, seven agreements were first suggested during the seminar. In the case of co-utilization of the Busan Design Center, once the center is open next February, the three governments will invest equally and develop an advanced design industry. Analysts say that it can be a core design center for the southeast area of the nation.
