Busan City to provide local bus stop announcements in English

To make local bus use more convenient for foreigners, Busan City will install the English version of the stop announcement system on local buses from July. 

 

This system will broadcast in English the name of the next bus stop, as well as public offices, tourist destinations and major facilities.

 

In July, a month-long trial of the English version of the stop announcement system will be utilized for 51 bus stops on 7 city express bus routes (Bus No. 1000, 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, and 1006). The system will then be revised to overcome any issues that arise during the trial run and then expanded to all 130 local bus routes. 

 

In addition, the English version of the stop announcement will be continuously adjusted and added to to meet the needs of foreign residents, by obtaining bus passengers’ feedback.

The city is also planning to promote practical policies to make citizens’ local bus use more convenient, such as installing bus driver barrier shields and LED bus display boards, providing bus route information at bus stops and ARS bus arrival information service (1588-2902).
