Soon to be “Asia’s Wall Street” and Busan’s new landmark, the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC) opened Aug. 22 in the Munhyeon Financial Complex four years after its groundbreaking.
BIFC is colossal, covering an area of 24,856 square meters (268,000 square feet) with four floors below ground and 63 floors above with a total area of 197,869 square meters.
The BIFC is Korea’s tallest commercial building at 289 meters. Its location and design give it preeminent advantages as an office building, such as neighboring retail establishments, transportation and the institutions that are moving in.
It has a killer view overlooking Jungang Road, Busan Tower at Yongdusan Park, Busan Democracy Park and Busan Port, and on clear days even Tsushima Island is visible.
BIFC also has a commercial advantage in terms of transportation. It is convenient to get around since it is nestled in Munhyeon Innovation District in Munhyeon-dong, Nam-gu (district) near Busan Port and Busan Port Bridge. It is by Munjeon Metro Station, Line 2, and Busan’s commercial hub, Seomyeon, is a stone’s throw away.
On top of these, an eco-friendly green complex is set up as well as an open community venue in the Central Square. In the entryway that connects Munjeon Metro Station to BIFC Mall is the Sunken Square, while the third floor of the BIFC Mall has been beautified with a roof garden.
Scheduled to move into the BIFC are five public institutions: Korea Asset Management Corporation, Korea Securities Depository, Korea Housing Guarantee Co., Korea Housing Finance Corp. and Korea Southern Power Co.
Also scheduled to move in are three Busan-based financial institutions: Korea Exchange, NH Bank Busan Headquarters and Korea Credit Guarantee Fund.
-How to get there: Take Metro line 2 and get off at Munjeon Station, which connects to the Sunken Entrance. Or use Metro line 1, Beomnaegol Station, exit 4.
