The 5th Busan Maru International Music Festival (BMIMF), supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Busan Metropolitan City and organized by the BMIMF Organizing Committee, will be held from September 15~20 at the Busan Cultural Center, Busan National Gugak Center, Geumjeong Cultural Center, Dongnae Cultural Center, Yeongdo Cultural and Art Center, Eulsukdo Cultural Center and Haeundae Cultural Center. Since its inauguration in 2010, the annual classical music festival has regularly met with the approval of its audiences.
Under the theme of “Classical Wave in BUSAN”, the festival aims to achieve a spirit of harmony between the citizens of Busan and the musicians through a “Wave of Music” playing at theaters across the city of Busan.
A variety of classical music - accompanied by performances and ensembles with a symphony orchestra will be played at the festival.
The festival also provides programs for promising musicians from home and abroad to compete as well as a venue for talented players and composers to be discovered.
*‘Maru’ means mountain summit or a roof in Korean, so the name of the festival implies that its goal is to become the best symphony festival in the nation, attracting the world’s top musicians.
