Haeundae Beach will be transformed into an ice skating rink this winter. A 30m x 61m international standard ice rink will be built in front of the tourist information center at Haeundae Beach, along with a 30m x 30m sled riding area.

The construction is scheduled for completion on November 20th. After 10 days of testing, the rink will open to the public on December 12th, operating from 10 AM to 10 PM every day until the end of February 2016.

The proposed ice rink fee is 12,000 won for adults, 10,000 won for youths and 8,000 won for children, including equipment rental from Haeundae-gu and the construction company.

In case of mild winter weather, a 300-hp refrigerating machine will keep the ice in good condition. A 5-meter high transparent fence will be installed to protect skaters from windblown sand while preserving the view of the beach.

A Haeundae-gu official explained, “Haeundae Beach was widened twice by the Sandy Beach Restoration Project this summer. For winter entertainment, we decided to create an ice rink and sledding on the beach. The facilities will be a new Haeundae attraction, making Haeundae Beach a four-season tourist destination.”
