The Ports of Busan and LA Sign a Sister Port Agreement

Leading ports in Korea and the US -- the ports of Busan and Los Angeles -- set the stage to promote cooperation and development.

Antonio Villarigosa, mayor of LA, and many people from LA and Busan participated in the ceremony. June Suk Choo, president of Busan Port Authority and Geraldine Knatz, executive director of the
Port of LA, signed a sister port agreement at Grand Intercontinental Hotel in Seoul at October 16.

The sister port agreement said two parties reached an agreement to share various information in port infrastructure improvement, commercial facilities development, port operation and to cooperate for trade vitalization and service improvement.

The executive director of the
Port of LA said that it was very meaningful to sign the sister port relationship amid brisk trade between Korea and the U.S, adding this sister port agreement would be the catalyst to boost mutual cooperation in the future.

The president of BPA said with marking 40th anniversary of sister city between Bus an and
Los Angeles, establishing sister port relationship between Busan Port and LA Port would be the stepping stone to promote mutual development and prosperity.

By signing the sister port agreement with the Port of LA, the Busan Port family increases to seven sister ports in the world - Port of Osaka, Japan, Port of LA, Port of Seattle, Port of NY/NJ in the U.S, Port of Shanghai, China, Port of South Hampton and Port of Rotterdam in Europe.
