From January 19 to 24, Busan Mayor, Hur Nam-sik will visit Chicago, a recently established and important sister city of Busan, and attend the inauguration ceremony for the 44th President of the United States, Barack H. Obama, in the nation’s capital. This trip is being made because of the official invitation by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.

After Mayor Hur attends President Obama's inauguration ceremony in Washington D.C. on January 20, he will meet with Chicago’s Mayor Richard M. Daley to discuss promotion plans for greater collaboration between the two cities.

As Chicago is bidding to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, Mayor Hur is seeking to establish a tight cooperative relationship with Chicago for promotion and support for Busan’s bid for the 2020 Summer Olympics. Also, during his visit to Chicago, a financial center of global importance, he will benchmark an effective development strategy for Busan to take a leap forward towards becoming an important financial center in its own right.

Mayor Hur will also meet major politicians including the Vice-Governor of the State of Illinois, and other government officials and business leaders of Chicago and Illinois, to strengthen our sister-city relationship and to promote business opportunities.
