Global walkathon to be aired live on the internet and TV
The 4th Busan TAFISA World Sport for All Games, or World Trex-Games, which will be held in Busan from Sept. 26 to Oct. 2 next year, will be celebrated by 10 million participants taking part in a walkathon, which will be held simultaneously in 100 nations. It will highlight the true meaning of the event.
TAFISA held a regular board meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina, recently and finalized its decision to hold the walkathon during the Busan World Trex-Games.
In accordance with it, the 2008 Busan World Trex-Games will be viewed as a unique sports event, which will hold a walkathon not in a single place, but throughout the whole world, under the official sponsorship of the IOC. It will be the first such occurrence in the history of sports. The organizing committee plans to kick off the event on Sept. 27 or 28 next year.
In Korea, more than 100,000 people, including those in the Gwangan Grand Bridge and Dadaepo Beach in Busan, will participate in the event.
The committee plans to hold the event simultaneously with other countries in similar time zones and air it live on the internet or TV.
The Busan TreX-Games is characterized by its blend of core traditional sports with e-sports, such as "Starcraft" and "Warcraft," and X-sports, such as off-road motorcycle racing and skateboarding.
