Busan City has announced that Busan transportation card, or Hanaro or Mybi card, can be used in 4 local autonomous regions.

To solve the inconvenience of using regionally different transportation cards, Busan City has been working with these other local governments.

As a result, from January 10, 2009, Busan’s Mybi or Hanaro card holders can use their card in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Incheon and benefit from any local transfer discounts.  Seoul’s T-money card or Incheon’s eB card can also be used in Busan.

As a result of making transportation cards compatible, the system has been improved so that passengers can save money by avoiding the purchase of different transportation cards in each region. Further developments are being planned to make new standard transportation cards which can be used nationwide.

The compatibility of transportation cards applies to the subway and buses in Busan, buses in Incheon and Gyeonggi-do, buses in Seoul and the urban railway netwo rk in Greater Seoul. The Busan City government will continue to push for the expansion of the service area.

Since December 1, 2008, Busan’s Hanaro card has been valid in Yangsan City. Also, Ulsan, Gyeongsangnam-do and other areas’ Mybi cards can be used on public transportation (subways and buses) in Busan.
