A wooden pedestrian overpass (photo below) has been opened on Eulsukdo (Island), the nation’s first such structure made of wood. To solve traffic congestion caused in the area by pedestrian crosswalks, Saha-gu District Office built the wooden pedestrian overpass and held an opening ceremony on December 16th.

In consideration of the special natural environment of Eulsukdo, as a habitat of global importance for migratory birds, environmentally-friendly wood has been used for the exterior of the pedestrian overpass with its arch-shaped roof. This pedestrian overpass is equipped with two 15-person capacity elevators especially for the convenience of the weak and the elderly, the handicapped, those with baby strollers and cyclists.
